This guide

The purpose of this guide is to expose you to some of the:
• socio economic problems in our city:
• organisations that are tackling these problems
• opportunities for serving these organisations

Each section represents a social issue we are responding to by providing support to our inn-keepers. For some of the issues we are in the process of establishing relationships with new organisations. The issues include:
• HIV and AIDS;
• disadvantaged youth;
• homeless people;
• the abuse of woman;
• housing need in South Africa;
• unemployment;
• substance abuse;
• welfare and relief activities.

As you read this guide, ask God to:
• stir your heart for a specific group of people, problem in society or cause that addresses the problem (e.g. orphans, unemployment or job creation);
• show you his heart for the poor and marginalised in the city of Cape Town;
• prompt you to serve into one of the areas of need listed in this guide.

Even if you do not feel prompted to serve into any of these areas of need we hope this guide will spark your thinking as to how you can serve people in our city with the specific gifts and skills God has given you. Young or old, rich or poor, working full time, part time, or not at all there is room for everyone to serve into the social issues we see in our City.

You can serve in the following ways:
• Pray for the issues that our partner organisations are addressing and pray for this issue in our city. Pray more specifically for the organisations we partner with see Prayer requests
• Get behind existing team coordinators and support the area of need they are serving into by giving:
- your time see volunteer opportunities
- your goods see wish list of things needed
- your money all the needs we meet have some financial implications. You can give money to the FFF to support the implementation of all these activities
- Serve into an area of need currently not coordinated by any FF member. See Additional needs not yet met by the FF community
• You may feel prompted to start something new. If God has moved you to initiate serving into a particular need or in a particular way that we are currently not involved in, then please share it with us and we will see how we can journey with you in the process
