Three exciting days of prayer for the city
Join
us as we bang on heavens door together. Jesus taught us, in prayer, to
knock until the door is opened (Matt 7:7-8). In the coming year, we
believe God wants us to reach and serve this great city more lovingly
and powerfully than we yet have. That's why the elders are calling all
Common Grounders to 3 days of more-than-usual intensity in prayer. We
also encourage people to fast in some way in this time. But even if you
don’t fast, please join in the praying anyway.
Monday, 9 March
In
your own prayer time, pray for a move of God in our lives and church
that enables us to more effectively reach lost friends, family and
colleagues for Christ in the coming year. Then join us as we pray
together (6-6:45pm).
Tuesday, 10 March
In your own
time, pray for the city’s well-being. In prayer, take on the giants of
unemployment, HIV, crime, xenophobia, the housing crisis and the abuse
of children. Pray that God would use us as a church in this regard.
Again, join us as we pray together (6-6:45pm).
Wednesday, 11 March
In
your own time pray for our city’s municipal, justice, health,
education, and government sectors and workers. Pray that God would help
us salt and light these sectors. Join us for communion at 6:30pm,
followed by a bring-and-share meal (don’t forget to bring), followed by
a night-to-remember as we find out more of what God is doing in this
city. Well be done by 9pm.
