Recently, we raised awareness about the two funds that exist for supporting people in need, both in our church family and in our city. To those of you who filled out a 1 year ‘commitment to giving’ form thank you very much! If you still have your form and would like to hand it in, please do so on Sunday at the involvement desk. Having this information really helps us to plan and steward the finances well.
How to make a monthly financial contribution to people in need in our church family and city: (in order of our preference)
1. Electronic funds transfer (EFT) via internet banking:
For convenience, use the future dated payment option which will ensure regular deductions off your account without you having to process the payment each time.
Use the following bank details:
For Church Family Mercy
First National Bank
Common Ground Church
Cheque account
62026738586
Branch code: 200109 (Claremont)
Reference: family mercy
For people in need in our city (through the Common Good Foundation)
Standard Bank
Common Good Foundation
Cheque account
270604553
Branch code: 025009 (Rondebosch)
2. Set up a stop order at your bank
This is a great option if you do not have access to internet banking. This will require some initial admin in that you have to go into your bank to set it up, but will remove the hassle of having to either make monthly cash contributions via the giving envelopes or at the bank. Use the same bank details as above.
3. Place cash in a giving envelope
Tick which fund you would like the contribution to be transferred into.
You can collect an envelope from the involvement desk.
Smart giving
1 JOHN 3:17-18
‘If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.’
JAMES 2:15-17
Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
GALATIANS 5:13-14
13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. 14 The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
