Every year in the first week of the June / July school holidays, Common Grounders get involved in a number of different ministry initiatives in Cape Town and beyond. It is our heart to see as many people as possible going along to serve and bless these different ministries and churches.

If you are a member of Common Ground
Church, you love God and you love kids, we invite you to join the Common
Ground Holiday Club team from 14-18 June. We will be running an
exciting three-day holiday club (open to the public) in our Main Venue
for Grade 1 – Grade 7, and need passionate guys and girls to join us as
we bless and impact kids in and outside of our church community.
No costs involved to leaders.
Empangeni Holiday Club
Dates: 14-18 June (actual Holiday
Club: 15-17 June)
Cost: +- R 300 (excluding transport)
Contact: Nicola Addison at nicolaroseaddison@gmail.com
or 074 1343 024
Common Ground will be running a three day
holiday programme for +- 250 young children in the rural KwaZulu Natal
area. Every day will be action-packed with various activities, including
plays, crafts and songs as we love and bless these mostly
underprivileged kids. Due to the distance between Cape Town and
Empangeni, this would be a great opportunity for you to serve if you are
a student originally from Natal.
Cape Agulhas Holiday Club
Dates: Saturday, 11 June – Friday
18 June
Cost: +- R600
Contact: Garret Loubser at bushjump@gmail.com
or 021 686 2970
Every year Common Ground sends a team of
guys and girls to the southernmost tip of the continent, Cape Agulhas,
to run a week-long holiday club for +/- 120 underprivileged children.
Our aim is to support and bless a pastoral couple who leads a small
church group of people in the area. We will also join in and be a part
of their church meeting on the Sunday. Most people in the community
speak Afrikaans, so if you are able to communicate well in Afrikaans, it
will be a great help. Nevertheless, all are welcome to sign up!
Wild Coast Outreach
Dates: 12- 20 June
Where: Lubanzi Village, Wild Coast,
Eastern Cape
Cost: +/- R1000 (excl transport)
Contact: Margie Jansen at margie@commongoodfoundation.co.za
A brand new Common Ground mid year ministry
is heading to the Wild Coast. Lubanzi Village (near Hole in the Wall)
is rural and lacking in many basic services. A team will be visiting
Roger Galloway (who relocated from Common Ground to Lubanzi Village in
2009) and his wife Karen. Ministry work will include a youth holiday
programme, hospital prayer at Zithulele Hospital and leading a local
home group. The team will be hosted by a local family – a rural
home-stay experience!
Also: Basic Xhosa lessons, a hike to Hole
in the Wall and Ultimate Frisbee.
Winter School
Dates: 14 -18 June
Where: Gugulethu, Cape Town
Contact: Lee-Ann Maughan at lee.maughan@gmail.com
Winter School is taking place at a Primary
school in Gugulethu this year with an eager group of energetic Grade 7s.
We need a team of volunteers to be group leaders and to help put
together the programme which involves some Mathematics, English and Life
Skills. No teaching experience is required, only a big heart and a warm
smile!
Our first meeting is taking place this
Sunday 27th May in the conference room in Friends First House at
10:30am. Please come along to find out more!
