Common Ground backs our boytjie to be SA's "Bar One Man"
Gareth Brauteseth is a member of Common Ground and participating in the current TV series: "Bar One - Man Hunt".
Remembering our "Real Man" series last year, we thought that it would be great if Common Grounders could support him in this venture and help increase the chances of ending South Africa's search for a "real man" by putting a Christian Capetownian in first place.
If you would like to participate then please SMS "Bar One Gareth" to "34704". Also listen out for Gareth's radio interviews about the show on CCFM on Thursday's!
Let's back our boytjie!
To read more about Gareth you can click on this link below http://www.samen.co.za/article.php?a_id=1195 and to find out more about the 'Bar One Man hunt', you can click on the 'read more' link.

Grounded
What we believe is the ground upon which we live our lives. That's why it's so important to get a good grounding in what the Bible teaches. As we do this, our lives and faith becomes increasing stable, enduring and strong. That being said, why not join many others in deeply exploring what the Bible teaches about God, creation, humanity, Jesus Christ and salvation?
We've launched the Grounded Course to help you do just that. The demands of the course are as follows:
1) attending four Monday nights in total 2) listening to, over a period of 2 months, and in your own time, a series of 21 powerful talks by Michael Eaton 3) being tested on your understanding of the specific talks (from 4-6 talks each time) for the first 30 minutes of each of the four nights
Each night will start with a test, but will culminate in question-led conversations on the subject at hand. As you do this course we hope it will greatly deepen your insight into the Christian faith - it will even earn you a well-deserved Grounded Certificate (assuming you sufficiently understand the contents of Eaton's messages).
The Grounded Course Intro is on Monday 15 March, in the main venue at Common Ground. This will be a great time for you to find out more about the course, and ask questions.
To sign up for the Intro, please email sarahjane@commongroundchurch.co.za

Recovery Group
We meet every alternative Monday at 18h30 in the lounge of Friends First House. The next meet is 15 March 2010.
- It’s a prayer and share time for those in, or in need of, Recovery from any bad behaviors, addiction and hang ups. Or those wanting to pray for or support those in active addiction.
- Christ offers us freedom from our old behaviors and so many Christ followers have wonderful internal changes and experience great freedom, but struggle to experience the external (behavioral) freedom Christ has for us.
- We discuss, help and pray for each other in a non-threatening and non-judgmental way. We are all sinners and fall short of Gods Kingdom
- The group is a form of accountability with others who have the same kinds of issues and have the ways of Christ as our reference point.
It was originally a support group for recovered or recovering addicts in the sphere of substance abuse, but The Lord had better plans and we have all sorts of other addictions and anxieties we are dealing with. From porn addictions to anxiety to parents of addicts are also finding a spiritual home to express their feelings and acknowledging that God is the only way to COMPLETE peace and freedom.

Interesting Article to read
Please take some time to download and read an article Angelique Arde, a journalist in our Common Ground community, wrote on interest groups and faith-based organisations having voiced strong objections to the news that MultiChoice is considering broadcasting pornography on DSTV.

New to Common Ground?
We have two options for you to look into:
NEXT STEPS For those who've been coming for 2 or more weeks, and would like to know a little more about the church and how to become more involved, we have something just for you: Next Steps. It's only 20 minutes long and happens every Sunday at Friends First House at 10 am and 7 pm (between the meetings). Just arrive!
DNA
Should you decide you want to become more than a guest, but rather a family member of this community, our DNA course is your opportunity to spend time getting to know our history and our heart. It's also a good opportunity to get to know some of the leaders in the church and to ask questions before making a more solid commitment to our family. You can sign up for our next DNA which happens on Friday night 9.April and Saturday morning 10. April 2010 by emailing Sarah at sarahjane@commongroundchurch.co.za
