Teens wise up to human trafficking
If you’re a high school teacher or the parent of a teenager in Grade
10, 11 or 12, please take note:
A couple of teachers and other volunteers from Common Ground have
developed a resource for life orientation teachers to raise awareness
about human trafficking among learners.
The teacher’s manual is a
complete resource, created in line with the objectives of the
Department of Education’s life orientation curriculum, and designed to
take all the sweat out of lesson planning. Teachers and parents are
encouraged to read it, use it and circulate it.
We’re trusting God that it will help to save lives and prevent the
exploitation of those most vulnerable to abuse.
To download the manual, please click on the link below.

Common Ground backs our boytjie to be SA's "Bar One Man"
Gareth Brauteseth is a member of Common Ground and participating in the current TV series: "Bar One - Man Hunt".
Remembering our "Real Man" series last year, we thought that it would be great if Common Grounders could support him in this venture and help increase the chances of ending South Africa's search for a "real man" by putting a Christian Capetownian in first place.
If you would like to participate then please SMS "Bar One Gareth" to "34704". Also listen out for Gareth's radio interviews about the show on CCFM on Thursday's!
Let's back our boytjie!
To read more about Gareth you can click on this link below http://www.samen.co.za/article.php?a_id=1195 and to find out more about the 'Bar One Man hunt', you can click on the 'read more' link.

Grounded
What we believe is the ground upon which we live our lives. That's why it's so important to get a good grounding in what the Bible teaches. As we do this, our lives and faith become increasing stable, enduring and strong. That being said, why not join many others in deeply exploring what the Bible teaches about God, creation, humanity, Jesus Christ and salvation?
We've launched the Grounded Course to help you do just that. The demands of the course are as follows:
1) attending four Monday nights in total 2) listening to, over a period of 2 months, and in your own time, a series of 21 powerful talks by Michael Eaton 3) being tested on your understanding of the specific talks (from 4-6 talks each time) for the first 30 minutes of each of the four nights
Each night will start with a test, but will culminate in question-led conversations on the subject at hand. As you do this course we hope it will greatly deepen your insight into the Christian faith - it will even earn you a well-deserved Grounded Certificate (assuming you sufficiently understand the contents of Eaton's messages).
The dates for the Course are the following: Mon. 29.March, Mon. 12. April Mon. 26. April, Mon. 10. May To sign up for Grounded, please email sarahjane@commongroundchurch.co.za

Interesting Article to read
Please take some time to download and read an article written by Angelique Arde, a journalist in our Common Ground community. The article focuses on interest groups and faith-based organisations that have voiced strong objections to the news that MultiChoice is considering broadcasting pornography on DSTV.

New to Common Ground?
We have two options for you to look into:
NEXT STEPS For those who've been coming for 2 or more weeks, and would like to know a little more about the church and how to become more involved, we have something just for you: Next Steps. It's only 20 minutes long and happens every Sunday at Friends First House at 10 am and 7 pm (between the meetings). Just arrive!
DNA
Should you decide you want to become more than a guest, but rather a family member of our community, our DNA course is your opportunity to spend time getting to know our history and our heart. It's also a good opportunity to get to know some of the leaders in the church and to ask questions before making a more solid commitment to our family. You can sign up for our next DNA which happens on Friday night 9 April and Saturday morning 10 April 2010 by emailing Sarah at sarahjane@commongroundchurch.co.za or sign up for the hearing impaired.
